TM51 Window Gallery, Fridtjof Nansens Plass 6
11.09.15 - 26.10.15
In conjunction with her current exhibition at TM51 Window Gallery, photographer Nina Strand presents Dr. Strand, a beautiful and deeply personal artist book. Strand offers an intimate look into the lives of her mother, her young daughter Kitty, and herself.
The book revolves around the journey Strand took with Kitty; a trip she had originally planned to go on with her mother before she passed away. When traveling by train through the coninental USA, Stand reflects on her mother´s legacy, her work, and her parental influence: memories and stories she remembers and tells to Kitty. Strands brilliant photographs are contextualized with her reflections upon the scenes, her memories of her mother, and Kitty´s reactions. Archival images of her mother, some that Strand took when she was a child, as well as from the media and friends, are included to further illustrate their lasting connection.
The journey and the process harmonize the three generations: Strand shared her deep connection to her mother with her daughter, who in turn got to know her grandmother.
Visit TM51 Window Gallery to see Strand´s series of large gicleé photographs, historic images, and profound texts from the journey. The exhibition runs until October 26th, and can be viewed anytime from the window. You can also arrange for a personal viewing with Managing Director Ane Øveseth Olsen via email: ane@tm51.no
