Gallery TM51 opened its doors in December 2011 in Thorvald Meyers gate 51. Today the gallery has moved to two showrooms, the main is located on Fridtjof Nansen plass 6, near the City Hall, and TM51 Infill is located at Parkveien 5. Gallery TM51 presents both young and more established artists from the Norwegian contemporary art scene and some international.

Front of House internship

Galleri TM51 is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated intern who wants to learn more about gallery operations and contemporary art. As a gallery assistant, you will be the face of the gallery during our exhibition openings and open hours every Thursday (6:00 PM to 8:00 PM).

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a background in art history or a strong interest in communication, sales, social media, gallery management, or promoting new artistic talents.
• Is passionate about contemporary art and motivated to learn more about gallery operations.
• Is independent, proactive, and dedicated.
• Wishes to gain valuable experience in art administration, communication, and sales.

• Hands-on experience with various aspects of gallery operations, including exhibition planning, marketing, and communication with artists.
• Opportunity to take responsibility for special projects based on your interests and skills.
• Exposure to a network of artists, curators, collectors, and other key players in the art community.
• Regular mentoring sessions for professional development and personal growth.
• Flexible working hours that can be combined with other daytime activities; weekly meetings from 4:30 PM.

Important information about workload and compensation:

• You are expected to commit approximately half a day per week, plus additional time on a flexible schedule, totaling around 1.5 days per week. The internship is not compensated on an hourly basis, so financial compensation should not be the motivation. However, we offer commission-based payment if you personally make the sale of one or more artworks during gallery hours, exhibition openings, or other sales activities. This provides a unique opportunity to earn money based on your efforts. The internship lasts for a minimum of six months but can be extended according to the candidate's wishes. This is a rare chance to develop your skills and gain insight into the world of contemporary art.
